Supporting Athletics & The Community: FHS & The Jackson Wright Youth Fund

The Jackson Wright Youth Fund was established in memory of Jackson Leith Wright, who would have been graduating from the FHS this year. Though it will soon be 9 years since Jackson left us, it is May 1, 2024 that looms large for Jackson’s loved ones. It is this day that will mark the transition from living more days without Jackson, than with him— 3,244 days to be exact. To acknowledge this day, the Jackson Wright Youth Fund and the Fredericton High School have partnered on a fundraiser to support the purchase of new bleachers for the school’s gymnasium, a facility that is widely used by our community. The City of Fredericton and Government of New Brunswick have already made commitments to the bleacher replacement project, but approximately $55,000 is still required. As a distraction on a difficult day, Jackson’s father, Jeff Wright, will hike 32.44 kms on May 1, 2024 to raise funds for this meaningful community project. That’s 100 meters hiked for every day lived with and without Jackson.

ALL DONATIONS MADE TO THE JACKSON WRIGHT YOUTH FUND BETWEEN MARCH 29 AND MAY 31, 2024 WILL GO TOWARDS THE FHS BLEACHERS PROJECT.

Donations may be made securely and with ease online, and a receipt for income tax purposes will be issued by the Fredericton Community Foundation. A plaque will be installed near the bleachers recognizing the Jackson Wright Youth Fund and the lead donors who help to bring this project to fruition. Please help us continue to build Jackson’s legacy and support this important community project. Click here to learn more and make a donation: https://www.fredfdn.ca/jackson-wright-youth-fund
