The following information highlights the main points for your information.
Before a student applies to work during the election, they will first need written permission indication they are academically able to miss the regular class time. This permission is to be obtained from ALL of their subject teachers. Once approval is given by their teachers, the student must obtain permission in writing from their parents/guardians using the permission slip including below or picked up in the School Counselling Office.ย
The advanced polls are Saturday, May 2 and Monday, May 4ย (a school day). The ordinary poll is Monday, May 11, 2026. There are no classes for students on May 11th.
Fredericton will have 3 polling days in 4 polling stations and 9 for the Ordinary day. As well, there are polling stations in communities which includes New Maryland, Hanwell for example. Students in these communities will be forwarded to the Returning Officer in that district. Students may also be hired as spares.ย
The Election Clerk will interview only those applicants who appear suitable for the open positions.ย

Training will be held at the Returning Office on 25 Alison Blvd., which is behind the Toyota dealership in Fredericton. All positions are paid to attend training and when they work at a polling station – minimum wage plus $5.00.ย
Mileage is given for a return trip from the student’s home to training.
It is the responsibility of the student to submit a copy of the permission slip to the returning office, in person or by email. Permission forms should be emailed no later than Friday, April 10, 2026, at nelda.robbins@electionsnb.ca
